Stay@Home recently predicted Jose Mourinho would be back in the Premiership by the summer with Chelsea or Manchester City.  Today fresh reports have come out that the Manchester City boss is under pressure.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini today dismisses sack claim.

Skysports and the Daily Mail both report that this could be a possibility.

Could we see Jose sooner than we think ?

Skysports Report

Dailymail Report

After Last week’s defeat to Southampton they find themselves 12 points behind arch rivals Manchester United.  Mancini has yet to give up on the quest to catch his rivals, last season City closed an 8 point gap to take the title on that dramatic last day of the season, the Italian warned Sir Alex that the title race is far from over this year, but it is looking like a tough project.

Stay@Home think it is clear for all to see that at times this season Manchester City have not been playing their free flowing football that was on show last season, scoring almost at will.

This season games are closer, they still have the best defensive record in the league only conceding 24 goals but they have only scored 48 goals, Rivals Manchester United have been conceding goals but their attack with RVP, and Rooney, has been electrifying scoring 62 times. Teams have learnt how to play against Manchester City, teams want to compete and this is putting pressure on boss Roberto Mancini.

Mancini has experimented with formations and City have adapted but it has stifled their creative play.  City will dominate possession in most games but their game has become slower. Teams are now getting two banks for 4 behind the ball and not allowing any space for David Silva and Samir Nasri to exploit.  Last season Silva and Nasri were finding gaps behind the midfield and in-front of the defense, allowing them to play, this would create havoc for the defense, this in turn created a lot of space for Aguero and Tevez.

Stay@Home don’t believe Mancini has been doing to much wrong, the issue Mancini has is the clubs owners, they are one of the richest clubs in the world, the owners want success but are they at fault ?

Manchester City Ownership and Finances

Do the owners have to take some blame into this seasons failings ? Mancini at the start of the season said “We have to improve as a team and as players,  If you don’t change a lot of players, you can’t hope to win like other teams”.

Mancini identified transfer targets in order to compete, including RVP, Ultimately, five new players arrived for around £50m, however none were the top targets that Mancini had identified.  The lack of depth in the squad saw Mancini deploy a midfielder Javi Garcia at Centre Half, Garcia has not taken the premiership by storm, a good player but not world class and with last season Hero’s, Toure and Hart not performing to their potential it has hindered City’s efforts to build on their title-winning efforts from last season.

Owners Issues

Mancini may not keep his job long enough to build his list of transfer targets for next season, he may not be liked in the dressing room due to his approach, publicly criticizing players this season, including Joe Hart after the Southampton defeat but, one thing he has done is bring back the good times to City and most importantly the City supporters believe in their manager.

How does Mancini keep his job ?

A good start will be a win this weekend in the FA Cup against Leeds and then take one game at a time and look to chase down Manchester United.  City and Mancini can’t afford any more slip ups in the League.  Mancini will just have to work with the pressure hanging over his head, every defeat will hurt Mancini and   help United take the title, leading to more questions about Mancini being the City manager next season.
